Jake Matthew Rivers is a cellist and singer-songwriter from Glen Rock, PA . Beginning his musical journey at the age of 8 with cello lessons at school, music began to click for Jake in high school. Since then, he has been searching out new sounds and effects with his cello. This has led to the use of the cello as a rhythm instrument, and the percussive, guitar like style of playing found in Jake's songs. Along with this, Jake uses a loop station to record and play back parts, allowing him to create an entire ensemble with just one person. As a singer, Jake is known for his tenor rock belting, and range. Taking influence from everyone from The Killers, to Ben Sollee, to Claude Debussy, to Jeff Buckley, Jake aims to create music that has both the big choruses of arena rock, and the intimate fan connection of singer-songwriter folk, as well as the complexity of a concert work.
